Dear organisers, I was getting the error message "An unexpected error occurred" when making the submission, but resolved this problem by leaving the team name, method description, etc fields as blank and solely submitting a zip file. I am wondering will that be counted as a valid submission? Thanks!

I never experienced nor heard about such error regarding the metadata form.
Avoid using special characters is you do, avoid zipping (sub-)folders (e.g. __MACOSX/) if you do.
Also, the Codalab platform was experiencing some issues recently with the submission step; have you tried again since?
