May I kindly ask the organizers to clarify the source of funds that will be used for the competition awards? The FAQ (https://forecasting.mlsafety.org/faq) states "The competition is currently being funded by the Center for AI Safety." Could you please clarify, whether Center for AI Safety was funded by FTX or related organizations (such as FTX Future Fund)? This is important for assessing the risks tied to participating and possibly winning an award in this competition.

We are still awaiting a response from OpenPhil regarding their funding decision. CAIS is going to provide funding for the 125K round in the event that OpenPhil is unable to do so, but OpenPhil may want to make the competition a NeurIPS 2023 competition to promote model development. We will be sure to post an update on the website as soon as we have more information. Thank you.
