> How Ranitidine Helps in Acid Reflux and Heartburn Relief

Ranitidine was a widely used medication for acid reflux and heartburn relief. It worked by reducing stomach acid production, helping to alleviate symptoms like burning sensation in the chest, indigestion, and discomfort after meals. By blocking histamine-2 (H2) receptors in the stomach, it decreased acid secretion, making it effective for conditions like GERD, ulcers, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. However, due to concerns about potential contamination with NDMA, a probable carcinogen, ranitidine was recalled and is no longer available. Safer alternatives, such as famotidine and proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), are now recommended for long-term acid control. Always consult a doctor for suitable treatment.
